Solution
For this challenge it is possible to retrieve the OP but it is not needed so I won’t show you how to do (but still very easy).
Our first goal is to identify what event is represented in the photos.
The OP tells us that he is fascinated by the African voodoo and mysticism.
We even have the name of the costumes: zangbeto dolls
Once again, we’ll avoid to use Google Lens and use our brain before using it:
In the first results, there is an image that matches one of our photos. It is in the CNN website so we hope they credited the artist who took this photo.
We have also more context about the photo:
This is a voodoo festival in Ouidah, Benin. The city is very important for the next questions in order to determine if "Dan Kitwood" also took other photos and if we was in another city before.
With another Google search query:
We got a new information, the date: January 9, 2012.
And this confirms it was taken by Dan Kitwood.
We already have the two photos of Dan but let’s still check the last photo to know the author.
Modify the Google request, scroll and bit and we find our last image:
=
Neither the dates nor the location correspond.
From the website, the author also specified her LinkedIn account. She’s not Dan 😀
Last thing to determine is the previous city Dan Kitwood was in.
I tried to identified dates of albums on his website but it was too long and not that worth.
Dan Kitwood has a Twitter account: https://twitter.com/dkitwood
If we make an advanced search query like this from:dkitwood) until:2012-01-10 since:2009-01-01
We can find relevant information.
The query simply tells Twitter to only show tweets from @dkitwood
posted between 2009 and January 10, 2012 (which is the last date where photos were taken).
Filter by latest results and we find this: https://twitter.com/dkitwood/status/155572926949765120
He was previously in Cotonou
and went then to Ouidah
for the voodoo festival.
Once again, we were able to solve this challenge without the use of Google Lens and it didn’t take long.
